Planning Your Holiday

6 steps to your tailor made holiday
I cannot promise they are foolproof but in my own experience they usually work

If you are not a seasoned traveller or you are travelling to Florida for the first time, you may find this information helpful. It is by no means a definitive guide but it does cover the major planning aspects to help you arrange your independent holiday.

  • Book your flights

    • You have decided on the dates for your holiday, so in most circumstances arranging your flights is the first step.

  • Book your villa

    • I am sure you have heard the expression "what came first the chicken or the egg?" Well finding a villa to match your flights can occasionally be tricky, particularly at the busy times of the year and whilst it is possible to book a villa more than a year in advance, the same is not true for the flights. So I would recommend you book your villa first if you are wanting a peak time and then book your flights as soon as they are released, to match the dates you have booked the villa for.

  • Arrange your Car hire

    • As Orlando is a such a wonderful holiday destination, with masses  to do and see, a car really is essential to getting the most out of your time. Florida has so much more to offer than the magnificent theme parks and this is where a car will make it so easy for you to get about and explore. If you haven't booked a fly-drive package and you haven't already made a vehicle reservation then may I strongly recommend that you check out the prices on this linked website by clicking on the header above, I feel confident you will find just the right vehicle for your party at a competitive price, sorry but UK guests only

  • Order your Attraction Tickets

    • If you thought Orlando was just Disney & Universal, think again! Take a look at this linked website (please click on the header or on the tickets picture below) to see just how many attractions there are on offer and also some of the fantastic savings you can make. Theme park and attraction tickets are not necessarily heavily discounted when compared to the gate price but every little helps and it all adds up. And with the main theme parks it also means you don't have to queue at the gates when they open.

  • Arrange your Travel Insurance

    • The annual holiday or vacation can be a large expense and we therefore strongly recommend that you take out travel and/or cancellation insurance appropriate to your needs. Please see my Terms and Conditions page regarding our cancellation policy.

  • Arrange your holiday money

    • The US Dollar is the currency of the USA and is readily available in most Bureau de Change and you may or may not have to pay a small commission on the money you buy, so it is worth shopping around. I would not recommend you take lots of cash with you but you will need a small amount when you arrive, at least enough to cover the tolls on the roads. Otherwise I would suggest you take US Dollar Travellers cheques or use a credit card to pay for meals and make larger purchases. VISA and MasterCard are widely accepted and whilst American Express is also accepted it is not as widely accepted as VISA & MC. Whatever method you choose to pay with or whatever type of money you decide to take do please be aware that there maybe charges levied when changing travellers cheques or withdrawing money on a credit card, so do check this first.

Now, with the main aspects of your holiday arranged, if you have a pet that needs to be boarded while you are away, make the reservation for them as soon as possible. If it is anything like the cattery I use, they almost get booked up earlier than the villas! And my UK guests, don't forget to cancel the milk or newspaper deliveries before you go.
